Waking In Some Good Persons Yard

The southern train passes
its horn a long bruise on the landscape.
Just at dawn
here I am uncurling
and the forsythia bush
has blown open during the night.
A foolish man awake in the doorway of spring
the beautiful sorrow of
all life circles me.
The wind blows and blows.
I fall headfirst
into the blue fields of grace.
