Poet-painter of the Midwest,
Sandzen fell in love with the Smoky River, The Rocky Mountains, the Great Plains, And spent his life telling their story. They live in his prints and on his canvases. They live in the vigor of each scene, In the water that almost ripples as I watch, In the mountains that speak to me of age and strength, In the trees that invite me to their cooling shade, In the canyons that echo back my voice: I become a part of all I see. |
