Poetry of Kansas

The Tree Of Poetry

Only its blossoms are palpable,___ivory petals
Cupping the essence of dream for waking delight;
Whence it is stemmed is unknowable, hidden its leafing,
Secret the way its long rootlets are webbed through the white
Stars, and clutched in the soul, and fed on the night.
