Poetry of Kansas

I ask for hours, more hours each day
In which to learn, to work, to pray,
So when the mortal dream is past
And that day comes when I have seen the last of earth
Its dreams, its visions___illusory, perhaps____
I well can say that I have done my best
And feel the time preparatory to life has been well spent,
Content to leave the rest to Him.
