Poetry of Kansas

Of Certain Persons

The Newspaper Man
Voice of the flying day, he toils
        That men may win success;
Earth's sweetest harmony for him
        The whirr and roar of press.
The Poet
Flinging soul-wealth to all the world,
        Healing earth's ills by love,
The poet visions things unseen,
        The cross and One above.
The Singer
(Madame Schumann-Heink)
The mounting glory of her voice
        Lifts to realms eternal;
Her soft notes weave the woof of dreams . .
        Paradise eternal.
