Poetry of Kansas

Autumn dies a-singing,
Shouts a bold "Don't care!"
Sets a cap of orange
On her red-gold hair;
Dons a shroud of crimson,
Flaunts a purple flower,
Mocks the hoary headsman
In her last mad hour.
