Poetry of Kansas

They shall go out in mist,
        Through years, my dears
Whither the four winds list,
        My dears, through tears;
Whither the cast winds rise,
And the west wind dies.
They shall pass out and in
        As sunlight does,
Where singing leaves have been
        And the soft wind was;
And we, at last, shall wait
By a shut gate.
