A Great DayI'm not a ten, or even a nineBut some days I awake feeling so sublime The sun comes up, the birds start to sing My thoughts and my heart both take to the wing This glorious feeling, I can barely contain it If it were a garment, what a wonderful raiment All the day long I dance and I prance And everyone gives me an admiring glance What can it be, what change has been wrought? It's nothing new that I'm wearing, nothing I've bought If I live to be a hundred, I'll never understand it How a feeling that starts so deep within, can command it The attention I get, the smiles and advances Will tomorrow be like today? What are my chances? ___Beulah Riggs Brown
